    Overview

    The Digital Sensor Toolkit is an add-on toolkit for LabVIEW™ to integrate digital sensors in  NI CompactRIO™ platform. Multiple digital sensors from S.E.A. are directly utilizable:

    The Digital Sensor Toolkit features a LabVIEW API for the FPGA and the Real-Time target.
    The implementation of the communication protocols is done within the FPGA target. On the Real-Time target only the data conversion functions (conversion to the physical unit) are provided. The API consists of only a few functions per sensor making the programming very easy. The LabVIEW Example Finder contains examples for every single digital sensor showing an exemplary implementation.

    The API is prepared for the use with the SEA 9210 Multifunction I/O Module as the electrical and mechanical interface to the sensors. The SEA 9210 is perfectly suited for this task, because it not only provides the required digital I/O lines, but also an adequate power supply, which is mostly required by digital sensors. Other digital I/O cRIO modules can be used alternatively, however, in this case the user has to ensure that the digital I/Os are fast enough for the digital protocols and the sensor is adequately powered. This open hardware concept enables the usage of Digital Sensor Toolkit on further target system like National Instruments Single-Board RIO™.

    Licensing:

    After the Installation a full-featured 30-days evaluation phase is offered. Within this time period the product can be tried out, though must not be used for commercial purposes. For commercial use a license is mandatory. The complete licensing terms can be found in the End-User-License-Agreement (EULA).

    Notes:

    • The evaluation version of the Digital Sensor Toolkit can be downloaded without additional costs from our web site. For the installation the JKI VI Package Manager (VIPM) is required.
    • The conversion from evaluation to a commercial version is done by activation with a license key, that can be purchased separately.
    • The Digital Sensor Toolkit requires the National Instruments development environment LabVIEW™ 2011 (or higher) incl. LabVIEW™ Real-Time and LabVIEW™ FPGA.
