ZigBee
The SEA cRIO ZigBee modules extend the National Instruments CompactRIOTM platform with wireless networking functionality and support different standards and features of the ZigBee protocol. The ZigBee module series can either support the networking between different cRIO systems, or the communication to e.g. ZigBee sensor devices.
With the ZigBee modules a personal area network (PAN) can be built up without the necessity to individually program network connections or implement network protocols. The ZigBee protocol allows the direct addressing and automatic data routing to any other system in this network.
To support access under different environmental conditions several module types support low, medium and long distance range communication.
Function
cRIO ZigBee module extents the Compact RIO platform with wireless network functionality according to the ZigBee standard 802.15.4. This protocol allows the connection between different CompactRIO systems as well as to other ZigBee devices. Every module can act as coordination, router or end device. Modules can be addressed directly or in point to point mode. Dependent on module type gross data rates between 10 kBit/s and 250 kBit/s can be reached, with a distance range between 30m and 24 km (with high gain antennas). For detailed module specific information please refer to specification.
Approx. Range for cRIo ZigBee 10: 20-30 m free range.
