SEA cRIO EnDat Module

The SEA cRIO EnDat module allows communication between the CompactRIO chassis and Heidenhain EnDat encoders. EnDat encoders support position monitoring and position control loops.

The EnDat technology offers a serial differential bus protocol with added safety checks for secure position values. Three independent channels can be simultaneously captured. Position values are read with FPGA reliability and speed at a maximum data rate of 20-25 kHz for a whole position value with additional information. Two EnDat modules with up to six axes in each CompactRIO system are supported.

EnDat 2.1 and EnDat 2.2 encoders are supported.

Module cannot be used with National Instruments CompactDAQ.

Function

cRIO EnDat Module with 3 * EnDat 2 interfaces to connect absolute digital position encoder from Heidenhain. The position can be readout at high speed and with very high accuracy. The build in FPGA supports EnDat Clock Speeds of up to 8MHz and allows the synchronous read out of 3 axis in parallel. Besides the digital position data also sensor or calibration information can be readout or written. The connection and power supply of the sensors can be done directly via the build in M12 connectors. Look for EnDat encoders at www.heidenhain.com:
