The National Instruments CompactRIO Platform
Compact RIO is a powerful real-time platform of National Instruments for mobile or stationary applications in industrial environments. A wide variety of signal conditioning and interface modules are available and can be connected via a free programmable FPGA unit with the real time controller. Thus not only highly deterministic applications but also high speed reaction and control applications can be built. The system can be DC powered and is thus suitable for mobile use as well as for low power applications based on solar energy.
Acquired analog or digital signals are digitized, calibrated and online processed. Fast analog signals can be processed as well as communication to external systems via bus interfaces like CAN, LIN or ProfiBUS. Acquired signals can be processed and automatically evaluated.
To communicate with such CompactRIO systems from remote, the S.E.A. cRIO MOBILE Module series was developed. With the S.E.A. modules measurement data can be retrieved or new setup data can be exchanged. Special CompactRIO modules from S.E.A. extend the platform with LIN or EnDat interfaces as well as Wi-Fi Modules for wireless communication.
