Mobile CompactRIO Systems
The cRIO GXX Mobile Module is ideal for applications in vehicles or busses, to monitor system parameters or perform specific measurements.
A measurement system requires the following components - besides one of the cRIO Gxxx-Mobile modules:
- a CompactRIO Chassis,
- antenna for the reception of the GPS signal
- antenna for the transmission and reception of GSM signals.
In t he following some application specifics are described, which have to be taken into account in mobile applications. Besides special accessories for mobile applications is mentioned.
Bus and Rail Applications
For standard and short term applications we recommend the following equipment:
- GPS/GSM glass mount antenna, which is mounted on the front side ore side screen inside the train or bus. Mounting and dismounting is easy, the reception quality is low, the durability is some weeks.
Train Applications which Require High Reception Rate
Using the cRIO system with GPS or GSM function in trains, special equipment is required.
- This type of antenna contains reception part for GSM and GPS signals. These antennas have to be mounted on a metallic surface of at least 500 * 500 mm with four screw studs (see image), to provide suffciant grounding. Nevertheless when the antenna is hit by a lightning strike, connected systems can be damaged. The antenna supports multi band GSM 800/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS and GPS L1 signals.
- The GPS part of the antenna requires a separate low noise amplifier (LNA) which has to be mounted inside the vehicle near by the antenna - as the GPS signal are weak. The GPS amplifier requires a power supply voltage, which is provided by the antenna cable by our cRIO GXXX MOBILE module, so there is no separate power supply required.
- A special cable set is provided to connect the antenna with our communication modules.
